Welcome to New Shoots Rotokauri, thoughtfully designed to create a warm and inspiring place for tamariki to learn, play and grow.
Located on the corner of Rotokauri Road and Bagust Road, Hamilton, the centre has been designed to reflect the stories and natural beauty of the land it stands on, with architecture by Copeland Associates Architecture.
With a peaceful rural outlook across rolling paddocks, New Shoots Rotokauri offers tamariki a strong connection to the natural world. Located across the road from Rotokauri School and a short distance from Hamilton Zoo, the centre is part of a growing local community with nature all around it.
The sounds and presence of wildlife nearby, together with the surrounding landscape, inspire learning that celebrates curiosity, wonder and a deep respect for the environment.
Rotokauri itself takes its name from the lake once known for its kauri and flax. The harakeke plant, symbolic of whānau, has also shaped our centre’s design. Just as the rito, or young shoot, is protected by its parents and tūpuna, our spaces have been created to support every pēpi, toddler and preschooler as they grow.
At New Shoots, play is at the heart of learning. Our kaiako weave oral language, literacy, creativity and discovery into everyday experiences, from the kai table to the sandpit – These intentional moments spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love of learning. Inspired by the natural world around them, tamariki will have endless opportunities to explore, investigate and thrive.
